Marketing a Cardano Stake Pool

As documented on cardano.org, marketing a Cardano stake pool requires time and attention. It's h3ke running a business. The articles covers social media, having meetups, updating your delegators to keep them engaged, having a purpose with your pool, etc. In this article on Stakada.io I would h3ke to focus on the website of a Stake Pool.

How to create a great Cardano Stake Pool Website

Explain the purpose of your pool

People are more and more aware that their money has impact. Show what you stand for, and convince visitors of your website that their delegation will add value to the network, charities, ecosystem, etc.

Explain Cardano

The first time I started staking I also started reading up on Cardano. So when researching ECOPool (the pool that triggered my interest), I was also a rookie on anything Cardano. If your website can convince visitors that buying ADA is a good first step, then they might delegate with you!

Explain how to delegate and turn visitors into delegators

If the visitor never bought any ADA then this person has a lot to do, and a lot can go wrong, the visitor gets frustrated, gets bored, starts to focus on tik-tik instead, etc etc. Someone who is interested in delegating with you goes through the following process:

  • They have to find an exchange, identify themselves, upload their ID, and think what is this?
  • Then they have to wait a few days to be able to withdraw their ADA to their wallet.
  • If the delegator wants to use Daedalus, they have to wait 9 hours or so before the blockchain is downloaded and only then the delegation area loads and staking can start.
  • Then the potentiaal delegator is on the delegators tab, and they find out that the pool they were looking for is not in the top500 and then the pool looks really bad with an orange or red color, while its just minting blocks with a 4-5% ROA.
  • And then this person decides to delegate to a top500 pool, because the others look so bad.
  • And then you just missed another delegator.

This is not so great right? Let's fix it!

Advise the Yoroi wallet

There is a simple solution to improve the last part of the user journey I describe above; advise the Yoroi wallet. I'm not sure if I make friends saying this, but if you don't want to lose potential delegators to pools with a higher stake, then just don't talk about Daedalus ever :-D. Daedalus prefers pools in the top500 sadly. In the How To Delegate embed, Yoroi is advised in case a potential delegator wants to delegate quickly, if the delegator wants more security, Daedalus is also an option.

Show your pool is minting blocks

To show that your pool is running smooth, show your stake, pledge and blocks. Use the Stake Pool Statistics embed for this purpose.

FAQ

Link to other pools or alliances

Show you trust the network and ecosystem, show you are acqainted with other SPOs. Show you love Cardano so much, that delegating to any pool is also fine. This gives trust. "Oh this SPO is even mentioning other pools! It must be confident their pool is the best!". Also, we rather want your visitors to stay within the Cardano-bubble, and maybe not start delegating other currencies instead. Solana anyone?
